Creative Workshops

a social theatre practice.

Derived from the globally influential theatrical methodology developed by Brazilian director, Augusto Boal, and his pedagogy “Theatre of the Oppressed” — this three week workshop series utilizes theatricality as a tool to help communities solve social problems and conflicts through experiential and interactive methods.

Forum Theatre 2024:

There will be a $200 honorarium for participants.

Workshop dates:

Tuesdays: May 21, 28, June 4, June 11 (5:00-9:00)

Thursdays: May 23, 30, June 6, June 13 (5:00-9:00)

Sunday: May 26th, June 9 (1:00-7:00)

*Thursday: July 18th (5:00-9:00)

technical rehearsal:  Weds Aug 14, 3-5 pm

Performances:
Wed Aug 14, 6:45 -8:30 pm (including post show chat)

Thurs Aug 15, 6:45-8:30 pm (including post show chat)

Audience members are invited to influence, comment upon, and interact with the action on stage; engaging with various performed scenarios and exploring challenging issues faced by marginalized groups in our community.

Site-specific techniques will further connect workshop participants to place based performance — establishing creative roots in new physical spaces and deepening a sense of collective belonging.
